Since IV century B. C. Ireland is occupied by kelts. In the first centuries of our era early feudal states have arisen. In 432 the christianity was accepted on island. In the end of XII century the gain of the country by the English feudal lords has begun, especially amplified in XVI — XVII centuries. Popular uprising 1641–1652 has been suppressed. In 1801 the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland is created therefore last rests of an autonomy of Ireland have been liquidated. During more than 800 years, till 1922, Ireland remained a colony of Britain. Dublin was second-largest, after London, city of British Empire. In 1922 the island has been politically divided (as a result of emancipating war) into Northern Ireland and the Irish Free State (Dominion) which in 1949 became independent Ireland Republic. The territory of Northern Ireland (six counties) has remained in structure of British Incorporated Kingdom. Ireland is a member of the United Nations, IMF, the World bank, EU, the Organizations of economic cooperation and development. A state system: the Head of the state — the president.
